Architect Ilian Iliev is the first professional designer in Bulgaria who manages the design of shopping centers from their location analysis, through conceptual developments to work design and author supervision.

He is the author of the project for the first Western-style mall in the country - "City Center Sofia", opened in 2006, “Burgas Plaza Mall” and the biggest so far mall in Bulgaria built on a gross leasable area – “The Mall” on Boulevad “Tsarigradsko shosse”. In 1996 he created the architectural studio "Planning", which since then has gained considerable experience with buildings of different types. In addition to these shopping centers, the studio also develops the first commercial park project in Bulgaria - Retail Park Plovdiv and the Carrefour hypermarket in Dobrich.
